The kills aren't particularly creative or gory, but they do get pretty bloody ('lemme axe you a question!' and 'Texas Chainsaw chase down' are my highlights). Patrick makes the movie, honestly (he elevates this movie greatly - shout out to his 'morning routine montage' and his catchphrase: 'I have to return some videotapes'). He seems to be a fan of slasher movies and serial killers himself (he's shown watching The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) at one point, and often quotes various killers).
His personality is a satire of the '80's business guy' (he often monologues to himself, which offers some more insight into his personality). He doesn't wear disguises or have any 'main' weapon (contrary to the poster, which depicts him with a large chef's knife). Patrick Bateman is also the killer here (the titular 'American Psycho'). The cast is likewise perfect with everyone giving top notch performances (Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman is easily the best here, but shout out to Willem Dafoe and Jared Leto as well). So, it's a straightforward story here, and the plot itself is expertly paced (every scene is captivating and there's literally never a dull moment in the movie - even the seemingly mundane scenes have a certain level of 'intrigue' to them). The story here is about a 'typical' guy in the 80's who leads a double life as a psychotic serial killer. It's been a couple of years since I watched this in its entirety, and, not only is it better than I remembered, it has secured its spot as one of my all-time favorites.
